Neurologists are physicians who have additional education and training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.
Patients are referred to the neurologist for conditions such as Stroke, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Dementia, Migraines, and other conditions of the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system.
A neurologist assessment includes taking your history, an examination to check your reflexes, sensations, balance, speech and other cognitive functions. Neurological diagnostic tests are often requested and interpreted. The neurologist then provides a diagnosis and management plan for their patients. A comprehensive consultation report outlining results and recommendations is provided to the referring physician and/ or family doctor. Botox treatments are provided by some neurologists for a limited number of conditions.

My clinical and academic training has equipped me with a rigorous, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis, management, and longitudinal care of patients with neurological conditions.
I maintain dual academic clinical appointments at the UBC Centre for Brain Health - the UBC MS clinic; and Providence Healthcare - the MSJ Neurology Clinic. My clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of demyelinating and neuroinflammatory disorders, as well as general neurology. I am actively involvement in quality improvement projects, academic research and an evaluator for industry-sponsored clinical trials. I contribute to expert consultation services, participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, and have co-led structured pediatric-to-adult transition programs to ensure continuity of care across critical developmental milestones. I have delivered invited expert lectures at regional and provincial levels, advancing knowledge translation across the neurological community.
Academic medicine and clinician education are central to my professional identity. I am committed to the rigorous training of neurology residents, clinical fellows, and medical students, fostering clinical reasoning, diagnostic precision, individualized treatment approaches, and compassionate patient-centred practice. This dedication has been formally recognized through the receipt of teaching awards.
